This link is to a group people in Marketing looking ahead at Social Media.  There is a lot in here for those of us involved in professional development.

social media predictions

It’s a bit like the “olden days” when having a web site on this www thing gave you an edge.  Now it’s just part of doing business.  Your ‘pack leading’ presence on FB or Twitter is now lost in the white noise as everybody comes on board

Predictions are always fraught, but to be honest some of this makes my head hurt.

Do we do this

“Integrated social media marketing will become a “must” for implementation. For too long marketers have been doing “Facebook marketing” and “Twitter marketing” plus other marketing in isolated silos. As we’ve seen in 2014 with Facebook reach, if a business focuses on only one social platform, changes to that platform can be disastrous. Therefore, the importance of integrated marketing will headline 2015.”

Or this

“Specialization is unavoidable. No one can be a Facebook expert, Twitter expert, Instagram expert and Pinterest expert all at once. On top of that, the advertising options offered by each of these platforms are becoming so complex that mastering them requires an enormous amount of testing, experimenting and learning.”

What I do agree with is the lull of relative stability in social media has come to an end.

I think it’s worth looking at IFTTT.

I have recently started playing with it to automatically links posts on this blog to my unused twitter feed, a Google business page (you can’t link to your G+ account or community), and to my deserted Facebook site.
